Cynthia Patrasso, State Director for
Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Arizona and Kentucky
Cynthia Patrasso is a 30-year media and marketing veteran. She joined team Child Lures Prevention and Teen Lures Prevention in 1995 as Illinois State Director. She also serves as Child Lures/Teen Lures Prevention's State Director in Indiana, Wisconsin, Arizona and Kentucky.
She and Child Lures Prevention Founder, Ken Wooden, began their long professional friendship in the late 1970's, during her tenure with the highly successful nationally syndicated DONAHUE program. A frequent DONAHUE guest, Ken not only became a trusted source of enlightenment about child abuse for the program and its audience, but his passion and dedication kept Cindy privately yearning for more information about the issue, which similarly became her own personal passion.
Watching with interest, Ken's many successes to grow Child Lures Prevention nationally, along the way, Cindy urged Child Lures to create video elements detailing each lure, as a tool to news rooms covering child abuse and child abduction stories. As a result, she co-produced a news series with Child Lures Prevention's Ken Wooden, Rosemary Webb and Jennifer Mitchell, which was distributed nationally to over 63 stations around the country for use in covering child abuse news stories in local U.S. markets.
Most recently, Cindy joined together forces in Illinois to establish the 2006 Child Lures Prevention Initiative which received statewide attention during the 8-station coverage of NBC5 Chicago's broadcast of Child Lures Prevention Town Hall Meeting: Smart Choices/Safe Kids, serving with Child Lures Prevention Creator, Ken Wooden as co-Executive Producers and Rosemary Webb and Jennifer Mitchell as Co-Producers. The Town Hall telecast featured Ken Wooden demonstrating the lures most commonly used by predators. The hour-long television program was part of a 2-week Child Lures News Series carried by eight television stations statewide in Illinois, coordinated by Patrasso and Child Lures Prevention.
The effort spawned state-wide implementation of the Think First & Stay Safe School Program, which was provided as a resource to all 2300 public elementary and middle schools throughout the State of Illinois, sponsored by the Illinois State Board of Education, Principals Association, Department of Children & Family Services, State Police, Department of Human Services, Illinois Violence Prevention Authority, and the Office of the Governor. At this time, the Archdiocese of Chicago also adopted the Think First & Stay Safe⢠School Program into all its catholic schools and parishes, in an effort to provide safe environments for its students.
Cindy Patrasso's background in television and marketing brings a unique perspective toward launching and managing Child-Teen Lures Prevention initiatives. Her many relationships in media, government and the private sector create important opportunities to bring Child-Teen Lures Prevention to all reaches. Having collaborated with public and religious educators, local law enforcement, the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) and other institutions, Cindy is keenly aware of child abuse issues and has long been involved in solutions-driven efforts to educate and eradicate child abuse.
Her relationships in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Arizona and Kentucky create unique opportunities to spread the word about Child-Teen Lures prevention and to grow and assist programs in these locations.
